I am sure everyone knows by now that I just got a new vehicle and had to take my first road trip in it. There was some business in the town that my parents live in that I had to tend too, and I think the cat’s enjoyed car ride. The Dwayne said that my jeep which, was the car I had before I got the one that I have now; was really rough riding. I told him. “That is kind of what jeeps are known for.” That did get me thinking though. Could that be the reason my orange cat kept getting sick when we were taking road trips? I had to make a trip home to my parents’ house this weekend and for the most part the cat’s seemed to enjoy the ride and Meesah, the orange cat didn’t get car sick. I had pretty much come to the conclusion that the reason that Meesah kept getting carsick is because the jeep was a rough riding vehicle but that Sunday afternoon on the trip back to San Antonio Meesah got carsick again.

The Double Stick Tape Experiment
I was hoping to bring you better news about the double stick tape experiment however I am afraid that for now I am going to have to scrap that idea. I had an idea on the double stick tape topic that was similar to my original, idea, that I thought I probably should have done in the first place, in fact I was very convinced of that. Well, this last round of experimentation didn’t go as planned either. I saw the vision of what the experimentation phase was going to look like but when it got right down to it not all of those strips that I was cutting of the double stick tape was going to fit in the freezer. Yes, I was using the freezer method of getting the covering off of the other side of the tape again. I had thought about maybe taking another trip home and putting this post on the back burner, but I thought that is not going to work either. The reason why I was thinking that could be a solution is because I was thinking about the rectangular freezer that my parents use to keep in the garage when I was in grade school, but then I remembered they didn’t have that any more in fact they haven’t had that for a while. There was another method that I hadn’t tried but I didn’t have the tools for it or maybe I did I just didn’t know where the tools where and I was a little pressed for time on getting something in for this week’s post.

Another thing that I feel like I need to mention on this is that it was sticking to everything else in the trash can making the garbage a little difficult to manage when taking the garbage out. My mother suggested using different tapes, “there has got to be more than one brand she said.” “That is kind of what I was thinking” I replied. I then went on to say, “I should probably see what different brands of double stick tape they have online.” “I was going to suggest that she said.”
My thinking on this is that this probably is a good method for keeping cat’s off of the kitchen countertops but the writers probably think their readers are living in houses. They probably don’t think their readers have four cats’ either but who knows. Although I was able to get a new apartment, I knew that my problems weren’t going to be over from there. I am thinking my next item of business needs to be a house.

I am thinking I will revisit the experiment of the double stick tape later on, but I do want to say this about it. This reminds me of the time that I was in the tenth grade in a speech class and we had an in class assignment that was part of a team building exercise and we had to construct a model of something out of a material that looked similar to Lego’s if memory serves me correctly but there was this one group where there was a guy in the group who said that he had done this before and so he kind of led the process of putting the model together. Something went wrong and my guess is he probably forgot a step but when each group talked about their experiences of putting the model together after everyone had finished the team building exercise and both the teacher had put her input in and asked the student teacher/intern her thoughts on what she had observed she referred to the student and his group about how she liked how he took up the lead explaining that he had done this before and then realizing that something was wrong and still maintained those good leadership skills even when they had to start over and that sometimes you have to do that and sometimes in life you will have to do that.

Something that I wanted to touch on, although I thought I would be talking about it in a latter post. is that recently I read an article about how a lot of recent high school graduates are not wanting to go to college. This really isn’t anything new for this generation. A second cousin of mine had pretty much announced he didn’t want to go to college. He had taken a summer job in high school doing some plumbing work in that small town he was living with his parents, mostly his mother I think because the parents are divorced, but he really enjoyed the work he had done that summer and wanted to keep doing it after high school.

A guy that I worked with in one of my solar jobs who had just graduated from high school said that he didn’t want to go to college I remember telling him that “these days I don’t think you need it.” We were in the company van when he was telling us this and our supervisor told him. “I didn’t finish college.” I think she had a side business along with that job because yes that job did pay us pretty well but still it was about like 30 thousand a year. my guess is that probably a lot of the recent high school graduates have decided not to go to college is because they have listened to people that they know that have been through the college experience and have said that a bachelor’s degree is really just like a high school diploma you really can’t do anything with it.

There are a lot of really good teachers/professors at universities but there are some that are just difficult because they can be. They really don’t care about the students and some of the work that your assigned as a student is just ridiculous. They have probably heard this from family friends or parents who have been to college before them and have probably decided it is not worth the hassle. Unless it’s a nursing degree, or a biology degree, or some type of health science you’re not guaranteed a job after graduation. I remember one of my professor’s mouthing off about how something that someone was doing is good when it is someone who is making decisions about the outcome of the rest of your life.

I just thought were the ones that are paying money for you to teach us, and half of us if not the majority of us don’t even know why we are sticking this because most of the professor’s in this department stand up there yacking about stuff that is not even in the textbook but yet they were hostile and arrogant towards us the students, and that’s especially true when you are talking about stuff not even related to the book material and you’re not even all that clear about what you want as far as our papers that we have to write. Not only that we are paying all of this money for you to teach us and were not even guaranteed a job once we are graduated. There was just a lot of drama going on in the department that my major was in and just not enough focus on the things that needed to be focused on. It had looked like about a year before they had gotten rid of if not all, most of the good professors and that was especially true for the program that I was in, and it was pretty clear that the professor’s in that program were just a bunch of unhappy people. See they had to get rid of certain professors due to budget cuts and they kept the ones that were sort of in this certain clique with the university. I hear it has all kind of gone downhill now, and that is sad because it is a cute little school. Where I am going with this is that recent high school graduates in that area or probably just in that state or people who are recruited from out of state for sports and scholarships from different programs I think are finding out just how downhill that school has gotten as well as how downhill the town has gotten and I think they are also finding out about the problems that other people had when they were enrolled in that school and know body wants to go to that particular school anymore.
From what I am telling you you’re probably thinking I am telling all recent high school graduates and the youth after them that graduate high school that they shouldn’t go to college that’s not what I am saying. I am glad I went I learned a lot I am just telling you what I experienced when I was getting ready to graduate and that I should have left when I started to feel myself getting tired of it. I look back on it and I am like I was very naive back then. Just because I had kind of a weird experience here and there and especially when I was getting ready to graduate doesn’t mean you will. In fact, most people say it is a great experience some of the best years of your life. However, it is a lot of work too. However, everything I have stated above has just been sort of my educated guess on the subject matter. According to the article, Why High School Graduates Are Saying No to College | BestColleges from the website www.bestcolleges.com. “One of the main reasons for recent high school dropouts not wanting to go to college is the cost.” I myself have learned that an online school where I had taken some classes to get a master’s degree had gone up in tuition. But this has been talked about in the media and the online media for a few years now. “Another big reason I found from that same article is that it is too stressful or too much pressure.” College is very stressful, there are several people that told me that “they nearly went crazy.” Alot of those reasons why college is stressful are the things that I have mentioned above. You really need to look at your situation now, and make a decision based on that. I good think to think about is what you would like to see yourself going and do what you can to make that happen.
