Double Stick Tape

There was one good thing that came out of this recent move and what I had to deal with as far as that impossible land lady that managed those apartments that I moved from. So, I guess where I need to begin is that growing up my mother was sort of a neat freak. I mean everything had to be in its place and the house had to be clean. She was just a fanatic about that. My parents made me clean and I think that might be why I slack off in that department at times but for the most part I am pretty admit about a cleaning schedule and stuff but I am a single man so that means I am one person doing all of this so at times it is not going to be as orderly as I’d like for it to be. That was even more so when Alex dumped his cats on me. I kind of want to back track a little bit and go back to when I was first entering university. I remember the toilet being stained and stuff and the dorm room looking like a prison cell and my dad saying home sweet home and I was like omg. well sense that dorm room I had an apartment that I shared with a girl and her boyfriend and a house that I shared with another girl and her boyfriend, and the toilets stayed relatively clean. However, things started to happen, and I wasn’t getting along with the people that I was renting with in that house that I was living in, so I got my own apartment, and I remember before moving out of that apartment that toilet got stained too. I remember when it came time for me to move out of that apartment my mother getting that toilet sparkling white and I don’t know how she did it. I assumed she scrubbed and scrubbed but I just couldn’t believe how clean it was. Well, it was the moving out of this last apartment and doing all of the necessary cleaning that introduced me to Muriatic Acid. you wouldn’t think that it would be effective in cleaning toilets because on the bottle it says that it is for cleaning concrete and stone. That may be why not a lot of people know about it unless they are professional cleaners. The fact that the bottle said that it was for cleaning concrete and stone got me to thinking. Well, I learned in grade school that toilets are made of porcelain, but what is porcelain exactly? Is porcelain a type of stone? Of course, like usual when I am faced with a question, I googled what porcelain and basically long story is short it is a stone, but it is a man-made stone. So that explains why Muriatic Acid is so effective in cleaning toilets. I was a little upset after I found all of this out though. Parents, friends, and girlfriends were always looking down on me because there were certain times when my living space was not orderly. but if I had known about things like muriatic acid probably would have eliminated some of the problems, I had in the past with cleanliness at least in the toilet area. That is part of the problem people don’t tell you certain things they expect you to figure all of this stuff out on your own, or they expect you to just know it. If you’re going to use Muriatic Acid to clean your toilet, I would wear long sleeves and pants do not short. I would also wear gloves too. Muriatic Acid can burn your skin. If you are a contact lens wearer like me, I would wear my glasses. If you’re not a contact lens wearer then I would wear safety googles. I am telling you this because you will have to pour the Muriatic acid into the toilet bowl and there is a chance that it will splash on you. In order to keep that from happening I would pour slowly. Try to aim for the stains your trying to get out of the toilet bowl but if they are too far in the back of the toilet bowl don’t worry about it because after you let it set for a little while you’ll want to put some kind of toilet cleaner in the toilet (whatever toilet cleaner you use} and then use a scrubber brush to get all of the stains out of there. I usually align the opening of the Lysol toilet bowl cleaner along the top of the toilet bowl and go around. The toilet bowl cleaners that you can buy in spray form are very effective as well.

If you’re like me, you don’t just love cat’s you love animals all kinds. Also, if you’re like me you love your cat’s, but you don’t like it when they get on the kitchen cabinets. Well, a few weeks after moving into my new apartment I was on the phone with my mother, and I was saying something to the effect that I don’t like it when the cats get on the kitchen cabinets, and she was saying that she read where double stick tape keeps cat’s from jumping up on the cabinets. It sounded like it was worth trying out, not only that it sounded like it was worth putting to the test and writing about. However, at that time sense I had just moved into my new apartment I was behind on a lot of work. So, I thought I would play it by ear and that this particular blog post would follow in place when I was ready to write about it, so here I am writing about it.

So, my first thought when I set out to write about it was that I wasn’t out of the water yet financially, so my first thought was to go to Walmart and browse the hardware section. I didn’t find anything there in the tape isle that looked like it was double stick tape. So naturally my next store to conduct my search was Lowe’s and Lowes did have a brand of double stick tap that was in my price range.

I was really excited when I found this in Lowe’s and naturally the first thing I wanted to do when I got home was put my mother’s theory to the test and see if this worked. Well, I put the tape on the kitchen cabinet, and I couldn’t get the side that was covered with this blue covering off. I did a google search on how to get the blue covering off of the Gorilla Double sided tape, and it said to put the tape in the freezer. Well that only worked for the first half of the kitchen cabinet that I put the double-sided tape on. My first thought after the first strategy didn’t work was to measure everything out by the cabinet size and then cut the tape according to the size of that side of the cabinet then I thought no, there is an easier way to do this. However yest that easier way would more than likely take longer but it would be more effective in taking the blue protective layer off of the top of the tape. So, I spent a little bit of time preparing this post had a margarita and went to bed. I try to make it a habit to get to bed at a decent hour so that I can get up early and get the gym. Sometimes it is good for me to just wake up at 4:00am and get a food shopping list made maybe get my run in and come back and clean. This morning the goal was to get another piece of that frozen double stick tape down on the countertop. I came in from my run and got that accomplished. I had bought a new car last week and had to spend a lot of my free time yesterday running errands. However I had forgotten to remove the canned goods from the vehicle that I had bought from the store and bring them into the apartment, so I got that done as well. and I taped a side of the island in the kitchen then I put the tape back in the freezer and went to work out. When I came back from my workout, I did my meditations and attempted to tape one of the sides of the island in my kitchen when I think I was figuring out the formula to applying the double stick tape right then and there.

I will talk more about keeping cats off the kitchen cabinets and Double stick tape in my next post. What I want to talk to you about right now is the fact that yesterday was Halloween, and Halloween is my favorite Holiday.

So, I was planning to get up at 4:00am that day so I could start my workout at planet Fitness and then finish everything up at my favorite gold’s gym location. I had been falling down on my routine of getting up that early and going to the gym due to the personal issues that I had mentioned in the past about my living situation. I had been focusing on trying to do better in that area, and the morning before Halloween I had succeeded by getting up at 2:00am to go to planet fitness.

The morning of Halloween I got up at 5:00am and I thought that was good, but I thought I could do better considering what I had accomplished the morning before. Anyway After getting the workout done, I realized that this phone case that I had bought for my phone was not quite what I wanted or maybe it was but it was one of those that has an area on the back of the case were it snaps open and closed and you can put cash, credit cards and a driver’s license in it. the area that is on the back of the phone case that is like a wallet, or a money clip the little pockets in it to hold the cash and credit cards and driver’s license looked kind of flimsy, so I went back to the mall to exchange the phone case.

When I got back from the mall, I got some news that was I guess sort of weird and I was just out of the mood to go partying that night. I talked with my brother about possibly going to the movies because on Halloween night there is usually something scary playing either old or new. He was just really not in the mood. I just told myself you know what I am going to stick with my original plan. This is the most awesome night of the year, and it only happens once a year. I had my costume all planned out and everything but because of the incident that happened earlier that day I decided I just didn’t want to dress up. I thought I would be one of the only people not dressed up at the bar that I went to and downtown, but I actually wasn’t. So, I basically just went I walked to the front gate of my apartment complex and got on the Lyft app to request a ride to 2015 Place. 2015 place is a bar that a girl that I was interested in told me about on San Pedro. I assumed that she went there a lot when she was attending San Antonio College. The bar wasn’t exactly what I thought it would be, but it was nice, and I liked the atmosphere I can see why she liked it. I hung out there for a little while and discovered that it wasn’t exactly the crowd that I was thinking would be hanging out there. I thought there would be more 20 and 30 somethings and college kids sense the bar was so close to San Antonio College. However, it was still early. I left because I wanted to see what was going on along the river walk, however I think it was starting to get more hype in the 2015 place as I left because more people were pulling into the parking lot as I was leaving in my Lyft ride.

I wanted to see the river walk on Halloween because three years ago some friends of mine were down on the river walk on Halloween night and they called me to come join them, but it was kind of late, so I decided not to go but that didn’t stop my curiosity from being raised. I didn’t get to do it last year because some stuff was going on, so I was determined to make it happen this year.

I was let off at the Menger, from there I walked to the River Walk it wasn’t how I thought it would be, when I say that I mean it wasn’t as hopping as I thought it would be, but you have to understand it was probably because this year Halloween fell on a Thursday. I did however see some pretty cool costumes. I walked down to the Market Square and from there back to the Menger. I had a couple of drinks at the Menger and was feeling my limit, so I called Lyft and was taken back to my apartment. So, I guess not the most exciting Halloween but at least I have the foundation and the framework for a better Halloween next year.
