Hi it’s been awhile since my last post. So much has happened during the holidays. So basically I was supposed to get some things done for business three weeks before Thanksgiving and the week of Thanksgiving my car broke down on me. I was able to make a San Antonio Spurs game with my brother and our parents. Back in January my brother had an auto accident and guess who was asked to take him to work in the early morning hours? Yes you guessed correctly, none other than me. I also lost my cell phone and had to get another one, thank god I had insurance on that thing. I also found my lost cell phone after I had gotten a replacement. We also had a death in the family. My grandmother who had gotten to where she couldn’t take care of herself anymore had been living with my parents for a little over a year passed away last week. I can say also that we were able to have a little bit of fun through all of this craziness because I was able to attend my first ever San Antonio Spurs basketball game. That was a lot of fun.
What I wanted to talk to you about today is; does it ever feel like someone or something picks you. that’s how I felt about a couple of cars that I owned. This was a car that I bought back in 2010, and a car that I bought in 2019. The thing that happened to the current car that I was driving back in 2010 was just so bad I don’t even want to rehash or remember what was going on. However it was like I got something good out of a bad situation because I did need to buy another car. I was about to graduate from college and this incident happened and all I had in savings was $5,000.00 so I had to hurry up and get a car. I ended up getting a silver P.T. Cruiser Touring Edition. My dad helped me pick it out. He was like do you want a P.T. Cruiser Kyle? Not really I answered. I found one that I really wanted and I sort of thought no because it has a high milage on it but it was well taken care of, however I was outbid on that car. I remember it was a Volkswagon Passat. I found the P.T. Cruiser in an ad in the local paper and went to look at it and talked it over with my dad and ended up going back for it. I feel like that car picked me because it was not what I wanted, and it would have never been my first choice. I actually ended up liking the P.T. Cruiser, I loved how smoothly it drove. I drove that for about three years and then my dad decided he wanted it and I wanted my moms Chevy Tahoe and my mom wanted my dads truck. So anyway in 2019 it was time for me to think about saving for another car and that’s what I did. I wanted a Jeep Wrangler, but I knew that wasn’t going to happen. Don’t get my wrong I was doing awesome with my sales job at the time. I was killing it. However not enough to get something like a Jeep wrangler. So I was making plans for either a Volkswagen Jetta, or a kia soul.
It was when my parents came to visit, and we were riding around on the freeway and we say a Jeep Renegade passing us that my dad said you’ve been talking about a Jeep why don’t you get one of those. I replied that I thought about it but I thought it would be kind of expensive about the same that I would be paying for a jeep wrangler. His response was I bet not. So I checked into it and sure enough most of them were about the same price as my college car but my college car was a relatively cheap car that I bought new and I was looking at used jeep renegades. However after that conversation in the car on the I-10 freeway with my father I had my sights set on a jeep renegade and I knew pretty much what I wanted. I wanted a blue one. Well that must have been a very popular color because I couldn’t find any blue ones. My parents even joined in the search for a blue jeep renegade and couldn’t find one, but they kept sending me pictures of good deals that they would find in their search for jeep renegades. There was a picture of a yellow one that they sent me, there was a picture of a lime green one they sent me, there was a picture of a white one they sent me as well. I thought all of the jeep renegades in the pictures that my parents sent me were pretty. I even told them don’t send me any more because then I wont be able to choose. However they did send me one more and it was of a red jeep renegade and I was like that’s the one right there. I just knew that was the one and I don’t know how I knew but I just knew. After I bought the jeep renegade and explained to a few of my co workers how I ended up with a red one when everyone knew I wanted a blue one. A couple of them kind of understand where I was coming from when I told them that it was like the red jeep renegade picked me.
A few people that I have known have said that there cat sort of choose them. I am pretty sure that’s how my grandmother got most of her cat’s. My grandmother lived on a ranch and I remember going to see her on weekends and holidays. One time she came up to me and said you want to see something cute. and I replied yes and she leads me over to a part of the stone built flowerbed and underneath the ivy plants was a mother cat and her kittens. That cat stayed around for a few years and had several more litters of kittens and then she disappeared. I never really knew what happened to that cat. I do remember always wanting a cat after that and my parents always said no. My parents weren’t real big on cat’s. However in my pre teens years another cat stumbled onto my grandmothers ranch and she would feed it and it would hang around the house outside of course. According to her that cat was a pet of the people who lived in the ranch neighboring her ranch. We were actually related to those people who lived on the ranch that was right beside my grandmothers ranch. We called that cat Wilna and it wasn’t long after Wilna showed up that so did another cat. My grandmother even stated when we were talking to a few relatives on my mothers side of the family that I have two cat’s that have adopted me. That 2nd cat that joined Wilna on my grandmothers ranch stopped coming around after about a year of hanging out around the house with Wilna. I think I was about eighteen when I didn’t see Wilna hanging around the house anymore.
However it wasn’t long after that a black cat showed up on the ranch and my grandmother began feeding that cat too. I was a Freshman in college at that time and then the following year my grandmother gave the cat to my parents, because she kept thinking she was going to trip over him and fall. The cat was solid black and my parents named him spook. I loved coming home on weekends and holidays and seeing spook out on the back courtyard and playing with him. When I first moved to San Antonio I remember finding two black kittens outside of one of the local H E B Grocery Store’s and scooping them up and taking them home with me but they ran away and people were telling me Kyle they are wild. However I would leave food out on the back patio.
I also had a friend in college who lived below me in the apartments we were living in and he moved to the other side of that town we were living in not long after I graduated and left that town. He named that cat smokey and my friend told me that he just showed up one day and so my friend fed smokey and kept leaving food out and it got to where smokey became a permanent pet. In the book titled the complete idiots guide to living with a cat it says that these cat’s or kittens that were probably lost or missing from thier owners are everywhere and they are just looking for a forever home.
